Send out an invite

It might feel silly sending out invites to a family dinner or traditional holiday, but it’s one of our favorite ways to set the scene and get guests excited. Keep it casual over text with our friends at HiNote, or send an invite via email using Paperless Post or Evite.

Set up a martini bar

There are two things we absolutely love to have at our gatherings: a signature cocktail and a serve-yourself beverage station. This Friendsgiving, we’re letting our guests craft their own cocktails so we don’t have to play bartender all night long. Set up this DIY bar and let the ‘tinis flow!

Make new traditions

We all know that friends are your chosen family, so this year we think it’s time to start making some new traditions. Whether it’s the first of many flag football games before the big feast, writing yourselves a note to open at next year’s Friendsgiving, or giving out awards for the best side dish, we love commemorating this holiday with an annual custom.

Your turkey doesn’t have to steal the show

Can we all agree that turkey isn’t even the best part of Thanksgiving dinner? This year, we’re roasting a smaller turkey and adding in a different protein option to supplement. Something like this butter salmon is a great companion to a hearty roast turkey.

Set a dress code or pick a theme

This might feel unnecessary, but a dress code is a perfect way to make the evening feel extra special. Whether it’s wearing your fav fall sweaters because it’s finally sweater weather, sending all the guys a flannel to con them into matching without planning, dinner party dressy attire, or making it an ugg or slipper party, a theme just makes it all the more festive. 

Try something new for your tablescape

If you couldn’t tell by now, we love a reason to throw together a simple yet festive tablescape. For Friendsgiving, we love adding these adorable turkey poppers to everybody’s place setting. Have everybody pop theirs open before dinner starts to begin the night with a bang.

Buy reusable containers

Every year we seem to overestimate the amount of food we have. And, while we encourage everybody to keep things simple for your guests this year, we also suggest buying a handful of reusable or compostable containers so you can send your guests home with some leftovers. 

Keep the party going long after dinner

Why does the party have to end when dinner is over? After the leftovers have been packed and dessert has been devoured, turn things up a notch by turning on a fun playlist and letting the dance party commence.
